Inspired by vintage fabrics, this work is a tribute to handwork and history: vintage covers made in India and Bangladesh have been in families for several generations. Women hand stitch them and repair them year after year. A treasure, soon to be forgotten as they are being replaced by new manufactured products.
These pieces are artworks by themselves. Often very used and washed they take the colors of the multiple layers that compose them. They also often have cracks, and stains. Using them as a "canvas" is a source of unlimited inspiration as well as a way to honor the work of these unknown artists who made them.
Painted, embroydered, their dimensions vary up to 3mx2m (120 x 80 inches)
